US Open: Daniil Medvedev fined $42,500 for racket meltdown

Daniil Medvedev, the former world No 1, was fined $42,500 by the US Open for his on-court outburst during his first-round exit from the tournament. The fine, which is more than a third of his $110,000 prize money, was levied for unsportsmanlike conduct and racket abuse. The US Open tournament referee, Jake Garner, imposed the hefty fine on the Russian player for his inappropriate behavior during the match.
