João Almeida trumps Jonas Vingegaard on Angliru for Vuelta stage victory
In stage 13 of the Vuelta a España, Portuguese rider João Almeida of UAE Team Emirates-XRG won the stage after a grueling climb up the Angliru. Almeida outpaced the race leader, Jonas Vingegaard of Visma-Lease a Bike, in the final sprint to the finish line. Britain's Tom Pidcock maintained his third-place position in the overall standings. The top two general classification riders, Almeida and Vingegaard, separated themselves from the rest of the pack in the final 5 kilometers of the stage, setting up a thrilling battle for the stage victory.
