Anthropic brings Claude's learning mode to regular users and devs

Anthropic has made its "learning mode" feature available to all Claude.ai users, allowing the chatbot to take a more Socratic approach in guiding users to their own solutions rather than providing direct answers. The company has also introduced two new modes in Claude Code: "Explanatory" mode, which generates summaries of the chatbot's decision-making process, and a more robust "Learning" mode, which prompts users to write their own code. Anthropic's education lead, Drew Bent, explains that the goal is to make Claude a more collaborative tool that helps users, especially new coders, to better understand and grow their skills. The company is also opening up the new Output Styles feature to developers, allowing them to create their own learning modes and customize how Claude communicates. Anthropic hopes these new features will inspire a "race" among AI labs to offer the best learning tools and help users become "really good engineering managers."
