Perplexity made a TV app and it’s coming to Samsung sets

Samsung is partnering with the AI search engine Perplexity to bring its app to Samsung smart TVs. The app will be available on 2025 Samsung TVs immediately and will be rolled out to older 2024 and 2023 models later this year. Perplexity is offering a free 12-month subscription to its Pro plan to users who scan the QR code within the app. The article notes that Perplexity's AI search engine was novel before the emergence of similar capabilities in chatbots from OpenAI and Anthropic. However, Perplexity has faced controversies, including accusations of website scraping, copyright infringement, and attributing falsehoods to media companies.
