Trump demands Guardians and Commanders revert to previous names out of respect for Native Americans

In a recent social media post, former President Donald Trump demanded that the NFL's Washington Commanders and MLB's Cleveland Guardians revert to their previous names, which were deemed racially insensitive to Native Americans. The Commanders changed their name in 2020, while the Guardians switched in 2022. Trump claimed that "our great Indian people, in massive numbers, want this to happen" and that their "heritage and prestige is systematically being taken away from them." He asserted that the teams should "IMMEDIATELY change their name back," suggesting that the public sentiment has shifted in the past few years. The article suggests that this is an ongoing debate regarding the representation and respect for Native American communities in professional sports.
