Mastodon is taking cues from Bluesky with plans for its own starter ‘Packs’

Mastodon, the open-source social media platform, is taking inspiration from Bluesky's approach and plans to introduce a new feature called "Starter Packs." This feature aims to make it easier for new users to discover and follow curated collections of accounts, similar to Bluesky's "Starter Packs." The goal of these Starter Packs is to help newcomers navigate the vast Mastodon ecosystem and find relevant communities and content they might be interested in. The packs will be created and curated by Mastodon's team, as well as by individual server administrators, and will cover a variety of topics and interests. By providing these pre-made collections of accounts, Mastodon hopes to lower the barrier to entry for new users and help them quickly engage with the platform and its diverse user base. This move is seen as a response to Bluesky's similar approach and an attempt by Mastodon to enhance the onboarding experience for its growing user community.
