Starbreeze Apologizes For Payday 2 DLC Price Increase

Starbreeze Studios, the developer of the 12-year-old crime simulation game Payday 2, recently faced backlash from its community after increasing the price of the Infamous Collection DLC bundle by 44%, from $118 to $170. The studio's head of commercial, Gustav Nisser, acknowledged the mistake, stating that the price hike was not tied to the introduction of the new Payday 2 Subscription service, which offers access to a plethora of the game's DLC packs for $5 per month. Nisser admitted that the timing of the price increase was poor and that the studio failed to communicate the change effectively. In response to the community's feedback, Starbreeze has reverted the Infamous Collection's price to the original $118, with an additional 31% discount, bringing the bundle down to $84.92. The studio has apologized to the community and acknowledged that the situation was "an honest mistake."
