Luka Dončić signs $165m max extension to stay with LA Lakers through 2028
Luka Dončić, the five-time All-NBA guard, has signed a three-year, $165 million maximum contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers. The deal includes a player option for the 2028-29 season and replaces his previous contract, which had a player option for 2026-27. Dončić, 26, has now committed to the Lakers through 2028, avoiding free agency next summer. The extension allows him to position himself for an even larger deal in 2028, when he would be eligible for a projected five-year, $417 million contract worth 35% of the salary cap.
