Battlefield 6 Will Be Skipping PS4 And Xbox One, Not Planned For Switch 2

In a recent announcement, EA has confirmed that the upcoming Battlefield 6 will be exclusive to current-generation consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) and PC, skipping the previous generation (PS4, Xbox One) and not being planned for the Nintendo Switch 2. The decision to prioritize the newer hardware is not unprecedented, as the current console generation is almost five years old, and both Sony and Microsoft have signaled the development of their respective successors. This move allows the developers to fully leverage the capabilities of the more powerful systems and push the game's technology further without being constrained by the limitations of older hardware. Battlefield 6 marks the series' return to the modern era after the near-future setting of Battlefield 2042. The game will feature the franchise's iconic classes and a single-player mode, in addition to a series of open betas scheduled for August.
