Pinterest will let you 'dial down' AI slop in your feeds

Pinterest is taking steps to address the growing issue of AI-generated content on its platform. The company is introducing new settings that allow users to "dial down" the amount of AI-generated content in their feeds, particularly in categories that have seen a significant influx of such content, including art, architecture, beauty, fashion, entertainment, health, home decor, and sports. The new "refine your recommendations" setting enables users to toggle the amount of AI-generated content they see in these specific categories. However, Pinterest is not promising to eliminate AI-generated content entirely, as the company believes that some users may be open to seeing such content. Additionally, the setting only applies to image pins, not video content. To further address the issue, Pinterest is also working to label AI-generated or AI-edited content more prominently on the platform. The company has been experimenting with these labels since May and has now "ramped up" its efforts to identify such content. The new settings are currently available on desktop and Android, and will be coming to iOS in the next few weeks.
