Fauja Singh obituary

Fauja Singh, a British Sikh marathon runner, passed away at the age of 114 in a traffic accident. He was known globally as the "Turbaned Tornado" and became the first person over 100 to complete a marathon, running the Toronto waterfront marathon in 2011, though this achievement was not officially recognized by Guinness World Records due to the lack of a birth certificate. Singh's love for running began at the age of 89 when he saw people running on television and decided to give it a try. He ran his first marathon in London in 2000 and was deeply committed to charitable causes, viewing running as a spiritual act of Sewa (selfless service). Despite his advanced age, Fauja Singh's remarkable accomplishments and dedication to running and philanthropy made him a global inspiration, highlighting the boundless potential of the human spirit.
