Apple accuses former Apple Watch staffer of conspiring to steal trade secrets for Oppo
Apple is suing a former Apple Watch team member, Dr. Chen Shi, for allegedly conspiring to steal trade secrets and share them with his new employer, Oppo. According to the lawsuit, Shi attended numerous meetings with Apple Watch team members to learn about their work and downloaded 63 confidential documents before leaving the company. The lawsuit also claims that Shi searched for ways to wipe his Apple-issued MacBook and hide his actions. Shi, who now heads a team working on sensing technology at Oppo, allegedly sent messages indicating that Oppo encouraged and approved his plan to collect Apple's proprietary information. Apple learned of these activities through messages on Shi's Apple-issued work iPhone. Oppo has not responded to requests for comment.
