Golden 5,000m kick gives Cole Hocker solace after being ‘robbed’ in 1500m

In the final day of the Tokyo Olympics, American runner Cole Hocker won the gold medal in the men's 5,000m event with a devastating final kick. Despite being over 15 meters behind the leaders at the bell, Hocker rapidly overtook his rivals and timed his finishing surge perfectly to cross the line first in 12:58.30. The win came as solace for Hocker, who felt he was "robbed" in the 1500m event at the Paris Olympics the previous year. The United States also won the women's and men's 4x100m relay events on the last day of the competition.
