Angela Mortimer-Barrett, 1961 Wimbledon champion, dies aged 93

Angela Mortimer-Barrett, the 1961 Wimbledon champion, has passed away at the age of 93. Mortimer-Barrett was a successful tennis player, winning three Grand Slam singles titles, including the 1961 Wimbledon Championships, where she defeated fellow Briton Christine Truman. She had previously lost her first Wimbledon final in 1958 to Althea Gibson. Mortimer-Barrett also won the French Championships in 1955 and the Australian Championships in 1958. Additionally, she won the Wimbledon ladies' doubles title in 1955, partnering with Anne Shilcock. The All England Club expressed its deep sadness over the passing of this former Wimbledon champion.
