Jared Isaacman is NASA's new leader
NASA has a new administrator, Jared Isaacman, a billionaire entrepreneur and Elon Musk ally, who was confirmed by the US Senate with a 67-30 vote. Isaacman's nomination was initially withdrawn by former President Trump, reportedly due to his donations to prominent Democrats, but he was nominated again in November. The new NASA head has broad support from the space community and has set three key objectives for the agency: human missions to the Moon, Mars, and deep space; managing a constrained budget through industry and academic partnerships; and cost-cutting. Isaacman has twice traveled to space on private missions and is expected to bring a steady hand and clear vision to NASA as it navigates political waters and manages a severely downsized workforce.
