Noah Lyles pipped by Kishane Thompson in first 100m head-to-head since Paris Olympics
Jamaican sprinter Kishane Thompson defeated Olympic champion Noah Lyles in the 100m event at the Silesia Diamond League meet. Thompson clocked a meet record time of 9.87 seconds, while Lyles finished a close second with a time of 9.90 seconds. This was the first time the two athletes have faced each other since the 2022 Paris Olympics, where Lyles was awarded the gold medal, narrowly beating Thompson by five-thousandths of a second.
