The Supreme Court will hear former FTC commissioner Rebecca Slaughter's case

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a lawsuit brought by former Federal Trade Commission (FTC) commissioner Rebecca Kelly Slaughter. Slaughter and Alvaro Bedoya, both Democrats, were fired from their FTC commissioner roles by former President Donald Trump in March. The pair claimed their dismissal was illegal, as FTC commissioners can only be removed for good cause under a law designed to protect the FTC's independence. In July, a federal judge ruled in favor of Slaughter, and a federal appeals court reinstated her to the FTC in September. However, the Supreme Court has now ruled that Slaughter's firing may stand while it considers her case.
