Escape From Tarkov On Steam Will Require You Buy It Again

Escape From Tarkov, a popular first-person shooter, is finally coming to Steam, but with a catch. Existing owners of the game will have to purchase it again on Steam if they want to launch it through the platform. Battlestate Games, the developer, has explained that players who already own the game will not be able to simply link their Battlestate Games account to the Steam version. Instead, they will need to buy the game on Steam to access their existing profile and character data. This news has not been well received by the game's community, as some had hoped they would be able to link their accounts and gain access to the Steam version without having to buy the game again. Battlestate Games is charging for the privilege of launching Escape From Tarkov on Steam, which has raised concerns about the cost of the game on the platform. The Steam version of Escape From Tarkov will support Steam achievements and Steam friends, but it will not work on Steam Deck, nor will it support Steam Workshop or Steam Family Sharing. The game is set to officially release its 1.0 update on November 15, leaving its beta stage after eight years of development.
