Guardians’ David Fry suffers facial fractures after being hit by 99 mph fastball

David Fry, the designated hitter for the Cleveland Guardians, suffered a broken nose and facial fractures after being hit in the face by a 99 mph fastball from Detroit's Tarik Skubal on Tuesday night. Fry was attempting to bunt the pitch when he was struck. He collapsed in the batter's box, and trainers rushed to his aid. Fry was taken to a local hospital for observation and was discharged on Wednesday. The Guardians' manager, Stephen Vogt, said that Fry is doing well and is in good spirits.
