Volkswagen rounds out new lineup of affordable EVs with ID. Cross concept

Volkswagen is expanding its lineup of affordable electric vehicles with the introduction of the ID. Cross concept. The ID. Cross is designed to be a more approachable and "friendlier" EV, with a new design language and features such as a front-wheel drive motor, 420km range, and the ability to transport two e-bikes. The concept is based on Volkswagen's MEB Plus platform, which promises improved batteries, engines, and software compared to the current MEB platform. The ID. Cross will be similar in size to the T-Cross SUV, with a length of 4,161 mm and a storage capacity of 450 liters, plus an additional 25 liters in the frunk. Volkswagen is focusing on making its EVs more affordable and accessible, as part of its strategy to increase EV adoption. The production version of the ID. Cross is expected to be revealed next summer, following the launch of the ID. Polo and ID. Polo GTI models. The company is also working on the ID.EVERY1 concept, which is slated for launch in 2027.
