East Belfast: Two men arrested after security alert released

Two men, who were arrested after the discovery of suspected firearms and a suspicious device at a property in east Belfast, have been released on bail. The security alert happened at Victor Place on Wednesday afternoon, which led to a number of homes being evacuated. Police had received a report that two masked men with firearms were seen in the Victor Street area. A man in his 40s and a man in his 20s were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm under suspicious circumstances. The suspicious item was later deemed not to be viable. Both men have since been released on bail to allow police to make further enquiries. An expanded service means the time of day or night a stroke occurs is no longer a barrier to treatment. The deadlock over the Orange Order march in Portadown - opposed by residents of the Garvaghy Road - has lasted since last Sunday morning.
