Chelsea 2-1 Manchester City: WSL – as it happened

Chelsea defeated Manchester City 2-1 in the opening match of the Women's Super League (WSL) season. Aggie Beever-Jones and Maika Hamano scored for the defending champions, Chelsea, in a hard-fought victory. In the early stages of the match, Manchester City's Bunny Shaw had a shot pushed away by Chelsea goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger. City captain Alex Greenwood started at left-back, with Gracie Prior and Jade Rose as the center-backs. Prior had a chance from a free-kick but was unable to direct it on target.
