Supreme Court denies Google's request to pause Play Store changes while it appeals Epic case
The Supreme Court has denied Google's request to pause the injunction requiring major changes to the Google Play Store while the company appeals its case against Epic Games. The injunction, upheld by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, allows developers to use payment methods other than Google's billing system without fees, steer customers to those payment systems, and link to ways to download apps outside the Play Store. Google must also allow users to download other app stores within Google Play and make the Play Store's catalog available to competitors by July 2026. Despite being "disappointed" by the Supreme Court's decision, Google says it will continue to appeal the case.
