Dragon Ball and One Piece anime company confirms its going all in on video games

Toei Company, the Japanese entertainment colossus known for its tokusatsu franchises such as Super Sentai (Power Rangers) and for producing global hit anime One Piece and Dragon Ball through its subsidiary Toei Animation, announced Tuesday that it's stepping into the world of gaming. Through an official statement, Toei Company revealed the establishment of Toei Games, its in-house video game publishing branch. Toei president and CEO Fumio Fushimura said the intention of the company is "to clearly position this business as a 'new pillar' alongside the fields that have been Toei’s mainstays, such as movies, television, and events." However, for those expecting a new barrage of One Piece and Dragon Ball games, there's a catch: Toei Games doesn't plan to develop games based on the company's existing IPs. “Toei Games aims to create entirely new IPs from scratch, rather than simply utilizing existing IPs," Fushimura said.
