Microsoft takes on Ninite with easy batch multi-app installations

Microsoft has introduced a new feature on its Microsoft Store website that allows users to easily install multiple apps in a single batch, similar to the popular Ninite tool. The feature offers curated bundles of apps across different categories like "personalization," "social," and "creativity," including popular apps like Adobe Acrobat, EarTrumpet, and Lively Wallpaper. The multi-app installation process is straightforward, allowing users to select the apps they want and then download a single installer that will install all the selected apps. However, the feature lacks the ability to provide detailed information about each app, such as its size or functionality. While the new feature challenges Ninite's dominance in the batch installation space, it remains to be seen if Microsoft will expand its capabilities to include third-party apps, which is a key advantage of Ninite. The feature appears to be part of Microsoft's efforts to keep users within the Windows ecosystem, especially as support for Windows 10 winds down.
