James Trafford completes return ‘home’ to Manchester City in £27m deal

Manchester City has re-signed goalkeeper James Trafford from Burnley in a £27 million deal. Trafford, who left City for Burnley in 2023 for £14 million, has signed a five-year contract with the option of a sixth year. He will compete with Ederson and Stefan Ortega for the starting goalkeeper position at the Etihad Stadium. The transfer fee is a club-record sale for Burnley, as City exercised their matching rights clause to bring Trafford back to the club.
