Instagram will start handing out awards to select creators

Instagram is launching its own awards program, similar to the Oscars, but for short-form social media content. The 25 winners will receive physical rings designed by fashion designer Grace Wales Bonner, as well as a digital replica to display on their Instagram profiles and stories. In addition, winners will be able to customize the background color of their profiles, creating a unique gradient. The judging process will be rigorous, with judges including Instagram's head Adam Mosseri, filmmaker Spike Lee, and actress Yari Shahidi. The criteria for selection focuses on creators who take creative chances and push the envelope in engaging with their audience. While there are no official categories, the winners will be chosen from across different topics and interest groups. Instagram hopes this awards program will become a regular event, providing recognition and a unique platform for exceptional creators on the platform. The first set of winners will be announced on October 16, 2025.
