Trump is moving Space Command to Alabama

President Donald Trump has announced that the headquarters of the US Space Command will be moved from Colorado to Alabama. This decision reverses the previous administration's plan to keep the headquarters in Colorado Springs. The Trump administration cited several reasons for the move, including Alabama's existing space infrastructure, including NASA, SpaceX, and Blue Origin facilities. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL) also claimed that the decision to keep the headquarters in Colorado under the Biden administration was "political." Trump also mentioned Colorado's mail-in ballot policy as a factor in the decision. The move to Alabama will "play a key role" in the development of the Golden Dome missile defense system, according to Trump. The Space Command was originally established in Colorado Springs in 2002 but was shut down and later reestablished during Trump's first term in 2019, leading to the search for a new headquarters location.
