Australian-trained sprinter Asfoora won the Group One Nunthorpe Stakes, the feature race on day three of the Ebor Festival, after two previous near-misses at Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood. Jockey Oisin Murphy enjoyed a perfect trip, slipstreaming the early pacesetter Night Raider before quickening into a decisive lead when the latter drifted right a furlong from the finish. Trainer Henry Dwyer expressed his delight at the victory, suggesting it would be "a bad night to be a beer in York." The win puts Asfoora in contention for the upcoming Flying Five sprint at the Irish Champion Stakes meeting. Meanwhile, Majestic Warrior is tipped as an each-way shot for Saturday's Ebor handicap.
