Sony Unleashes Nostaglia With PlayStation 30th Anniversary Video

Sony has celebrated the 30th anniversary of the original PlayStation's launch in North America with a nostalgic video showcasing the iconic sounds of the console. The company has also called for fans to share their PlayStation memories using the #PlayStation30Memories hashtag, with some of the submissions to be featured in a special celebration video. Last year, Sony released 30th anniversary editions of the PlayStation 5 Slim, PS5 Pro, and PS Portal, all of which were given a PS1-style makeover. Former PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan also received his own PS1-style PlayStation 5 upon his retirement in 2023. Additionally, market research firm Circana has shared the best-selling games from the original PlayStation, with several titles like Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy 7, Resident Evil 2, and Tekken 3 remaining popular decades later. GameSpot has also compiled its own list of the top 20 PS1 games of all time.
