China closes antitrust probe into Google's Android operating system

China has ended its antitrust probe into Google's Android operating system, amid ongoing discussions between the US and Chinese governments over various trade-related issues. Despite Google's search engine and many of its core products being blocked in China, the tech giant still generates substantial revenue in the country through cloud services and ad sales. The decision to ease up on Google is seen as a tactical move by Beijing, as China is increasingly scrutinizing NVIDIA's business in the country as a negotiating tool during trade talks with the US. China has been discouraging local companies from buying NVIDIA's H20 GPUs and has recently banned them from buying the company's newest AI chip, the RTX Pro 6000D. Additionally, Chinese regulators have accused NVIDIA of violating antitrust laws with its acquisition of chipmaker Mellanox. The US and Chinese officials have just concluded three days of trade talks in Madrid, and President Trump and President Xi are expected to discuss a potential deal for TikTok's US business.
