Arc Raiders Server Test Put Up Some Huge Numbers On Steam

Arc Raiders, the extraction shooter developed by Embark Studio, experienced a successful server test on Steam, with the game peaking at 189,668 concurrent players and maintaining a spot in the top 10 most-played games on the platform over the weekend. The test was designed to stress-test the game's servers ahead of its official release on October 30, and it appears the studio achieved its goal. Arc Raiders is set in a post-apocalyptic future where humanity has been forced to take shelter underground due to the threat of deadly Arc robots. Players take on the role of raiders, venturing topside to collect valuable resources. The game features a premium model, with a $40 price tag, in contrast to Embark's previous release, The Finals, which was free-to-play. The game's positive reception during the playtest, with players praising its level of polish and the implementation of strong PvE threats, suggests Arc Raiders could face stiff competition in the busy shooter market, which includes the recent release of Battlefield 6 and the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, as well as the anticipated full version 1.0 release of Escape from Tarkov on November 15.
