Nicolas Jackson tells Chelsea he wants to leave as Newcastle circle

Nicolas Jackson, the Senegal striker, has informed Chelsea that he wants to leave the club. This comes amid interest from Newcastle United, who are now believed to be the frontrunners to sign the 24-year-old. Jackson has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge following the arrivals of Liam Delap and João Pedro. He missed Chelsea's friendly against Bayer Leverkusen on Friday and trained alone after informing the club of his desire to move. Chelsea had initially valued Jackson at £80m, but they are now likely to accept a reduced fee of around £65m as they aim to reshape their attacking options. The club is reportedly targeting Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig and Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho as potential replacements.
