Roblox Will Age-Verify All Players Who Use Voice Chat By End Of Year
Roblox has announced plans to introduce comprehensive age verification for all players who wish to use voice chat on the platform by the end of the year. The verification process will use a combination of facial age estimation technology, ID age verification, and verified parental consent. This move is aimed at enhancing the platform's safety and preventing children from interacting with unknown adults. Additionally, Roblox has introduced over 100 safety tools since January 2025, including an open-source AI system called "Roblox Sentinel" to detect early signs of child endangerment. The announcement highlights that these changes will make Roblox compliant with the UK's Online Safety Act and set a standard for other gaming, social media, and communication platforms to follow. The announcement, however, does not address any potential privacy concerns players may have regarding these new measures.
