Television relationship coach Mel Schilling, who starred in the Australian and British series of âMarried at First Sight,â has died aged 54. Schilling was diagnosed with colon cancer in December 2023 and said earlier this month that the disease had spread to her brain. âMelanie Jane Brisbane-Schilling passed away peacefully today, surrounded by love,â her husband Gareth Brisbane wrote in a post on her verified Instagram account Tuesday. The couple share a daughter, Maddie. âIn her final moments, when I thought cancer had taken away her ability to speak, she ushered me closer and whispered a message for Maddie and me that will sustain me for the rest of my life,â the statement posted on Tuesday continued. âIt took all of her remaining strength, and that gesture summed up our wee Melsie perfectly. Even then, her only thought was for Maddie and me.â âTo most of you, she was Mel Schilling â matriarch of MAFS and queen of reality TV.
