Doesn't Feel Like Peace In Ukraine is Close: Smith

Former US Ambassador to NATO, Julianne Smith, expressed her skepticism about the prospects of achieving peace in Ukraine. In an interview with Bloomberg's "Balance of Power," Smith stated that she does not feel the US is any closer to reaching a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict. Smith discussed President Trump's recent comments, where he voiced his disappointment that Ukrainian President Zelenskiy has not read the latest deal. She suggested that the US President needs to put additional pressure on Russian President Putin to make progress towards a peaceful settlement. The former ambassador's remarks come amid the ongoing tensions between Ukraine and Russia, which have been ongoing since Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014. Despite various diplomatic efforts, the conflict continues to persist, and the path to a lasting peace remains elusive.
