Triumphant Lionesses squad to be honoured at Downing Street
The England women's football team, known as the Lionesses, will be honored at a reception at 10 Downing Street on Monday. This comes after their successful defense of the European title, making them the first senior England football team to win a major trophy on foreign soil and the first to win back-to-back titles. The team defeated Spain on penalties in Basel, Switzerland, and returned to their hotel in Zurich on Sunday night to celebrate with their families and friends. The reception will be hosted by Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, who will welcome the triumphant squad.
