Tensor's Robocar will be 'Lyft-ready' out of the factory
Tensor, a San Jose-based company, has partnered with Lyft to provide "Lyft-ready" autonomous vehicles (AVs) straight from the factory. Lyft has reserved "hundreds" of Tensor's Robocars and plans to operate its own fleet of these vehicles. The partnership allows Lyft to integrate its platform into the Robocars, enabling a new form of passive income for owners in regions with level 4 regulatory approval. Tensor plans to deliver its first Robocars by the end of 2026, with over 100 sensors, including 37 cameras, 5 LIDARs, and 11 radars, powered by 8 NVIDIA chips capable of 8,000 trillion operations per second. This partnership is Lyft's first where it will purchase and operate its own AV fleet, and it is part of a broader trend in the industry, with Uber and Tesla also exploring similar models.
