‘I felt the energy’: Granit Xhaka joins Sunderland on three-year contract
Granit Xhaka, the Swiss midfielder, has joined Sunderland on a three-year contract from Bayer Leverkusen. The transfer fee is reportedly an initial £13 million, with an additional £4 million in potential add-ons. Xhaka, 32, was a key part of Leverkusen's successful 2023-24 season, which saw them win the Bundesliga title, the DFB-Pokal, and reach the Europa League final. Sunderland have also agreed a deal to sign NEC goalkeeper Robin Roefs.
