Fire Emblem Shadows mixes in a little social deduction with its tactics
Nintendo has announced a new mobile spin-off of the popular Fire Emblem strategy game series called Fire Emblem Shadows, which combines the franchise's tactical gameplay with social deduction mechanics. The game features a group of heroes navigating an underground labyrinth, with players taking on the role of either a disciple of light or a disciple of shadow. After an initial battle, players vote to determine who they believe is the treacherous disciple of shadow, and the outcome of the vote affects the difficulty of the next battle. Unlike traditional Fire Emblem games, players do not have direct control over their characters during battles. Instead, they can deploy spells to support their heroes as they move through the map. The game also offers upgrades and a season pass that unlocks premium rewards. While Nintendo's push into mobile games has slowed in recent years, the company has consistently updated its original Fire Emblem spin-off, Fire Emblem Heroes, since its release in 2017, and it's likely that Fire Emblem Shadows will receive similar support if it proves popular.
