McIlroy provides thrills but Henley leads Tour Championship after 61
In the opening round of the Tour Championship in Georgia, Rory McIlroy provided some thrilling moments, despite finishing five strokes behind the leader, Russell Henley. McIlroy hit a bunker shot that flew over the flag and bounced off a grandstand, leaving him a 17-foot birdie putt, which he sank to the amusement of himself and playing partner Scottie Scheffler. Scheffler shot a 63, while Tommy Fleetwood and Robert MacIntyre both carded 64. However, it was Henley who stole the show with a stunning 61, taking the first-round lead.
