Sir David Nabarro obituary

Sir David Nabarro, a special envoy for the UN and the World Health Organization, passed away at the age of 75. Nabarro had a long career in public service, starting from his early days as a volunteer organizer in York while still in school. He went on to work as a medical officer in Iraq and Nepal, and as a health and population advisor in Kenya, before joining the World Health Organization and the UN. Nabarro played a critical role in leading the responses to major global health crises, including the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa, and the 2016 cholera outbreak in Haiti. However, he was also critical of the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the need for better coordination and cooperation among nations.
