Verstappen takes F1 US GP pole after sprint victory to turn up heat on Norris and Piastri

Max Verstappen secured pole position for the US Grand Prix after winning the sprint race earlier in the day. Verstappen's impressive lap in qualifying saw him finish three-tenths of a second ahead of Lando Norris in second place. The day, however, was marked by an incident between Norris and Oscar Piastri, with the latter crashing into Norris on the opening lap of the sprint race, taking both drivers out and leaving McLaren with a management challenge. Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton finished third and fifth, respectively, while George Russell of Mercedes took fourth position on the grid.
