Asylum seekers to remain at Epping hotel after court of appeal revokes ban

The Court of Appeal has overturned a High Court ban on housing asylum seekers at the Bell hotel in Epping. The decision allows more than 130 people seeking asylum to remain at the hotel, despite previous protests. The judges found that the decision to grant the injunction was "seriously flawed" and contained several "errors in principle". While this is a technical victory for the Home Office, it could pave the way for other local councils to challenge the use of hotels to house asylum seekers. The ruling has already been seized upon by political opponents of the government's policies on immigration and asylum.
