Gen Z faces ‘job-pocalypse’ as global firms prioritise AI over new hires, report says

According to a study by the British Standards Institution (BSI), young people entering the workforce are facing a "job-pocalypse" as global businesses prioritize investing in artificial intelligence (AI) over new hires. The study, which surveyed business leaders across seven countries, found that a quarter of them believe entry-level tasks could be automated to reduce costs. This means that companies are focusing on implementing AI to plug skills gaps and reduce headcount, rather than training up junior staff. The report suggests that this trend could have significant implications for the job prospects of Generation Z, as businesses increasingly prioritize automation over traditional hiring practices.
