Brouillette Says Diesel Export Ban Would Be a Bad Idea

Dan Brouillette, Former Secretary of Energy during the first Trump administration and Co-chair of the Torridon Group, says a US diesel export ban would be a “bad idea” because it could eventually force refiners to cut production and raise gasoline prices. Brouillette says reopening the Strait of Hormuz is the most important near-term step to bringing fuel prices down and argues markets need confidence that it will remain open. Brouillette thinks constrained US refining capacity is contributing to diesel scarcity and remains a longer-term infrastructure problem. He speaks with Kailey Leinz and Joe Mathieu on Bloomberg’s "Balance of Power.
