Copilot’s new ‘Agent Mode’ is your personal AI wizard for Office

Microsoft has introduced two new AI features, Agent Mode and Office Agent, in its Microsoft 365 Copilot for Office apps. Agent Mode allows Copilot to independently manage complex tasks in Excel, such as building advanced models, checking results, and adjusting until everything is right. This enables users to create financial reports, loan calculators, or household budgets without being an Excel expert. In Word, Copilot's agentic AI capabilities turn document creation and management into a more dialogue-based process, where Copilot suggests changes and asks questions to fine-tune the text. Additionally, Office Agent is being launched in Copilot chat, enabling the creation of complete PowerPoint presentations and Word documents directly from chat. Both features are currently available to Microsoft 365 Copilot licensed customers and Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers through the Frontier program, which allows users to test Copilot features that are not yet finalized.
