A Former Bandai Namco Employee Allegedly Embezzled So Much Money, Execs Had To Take A Pay Cut

Bandai Namco, a prominent game publisher, has recently disclosed an alleged embezzlement incident involving a former employee at its Hong Kong subsidiary, Bandai Logipal. Between 2021 and 2023, the former employee is accused of misappropriating around 500 million yen (approximately $3.38 million USD), leading to the employee's arrest and a temporary pay cut for several of the subsidiary's leadership. To address the situation, Bandai Namco has pursued civil and criminal charges against the former employee and is forming a new department to oversee the management of its overseas subsidiaries. The company has emphasized its commitment to cooperating with law enforcement authorities and preventing similar incidents in the future. Despite this incident, Bandai Namco's partnership with Sony, which involves a $463 million investment, remains unaffected, and the two companies plan to focus on expanding their fan community and strengthening engagement, particularly in the anime field.
