Amazon is putting prescription drugs in vending machines

Amazon is introducing prescription drug vending machines in its One Medical clinics, starting in Los Angeles in December. These kiosks will offer a range of common medications, including antibiotics, inhalers, and blood pressure drugs, allowing patients to collect their prescriptions immediately after their appointment. The aim is to make it easier for people to access essential medications without the need for an additional trip to a pharmacy, potentially reducing delays and the number of unfilled prescriptions. The kiosks will be verified by Amazon's pharmacists, and patients can use the Amazon mobile app to check out and retrieve their drugs "in minutes." This move comes as traditional brick-and-mortar pharmacies face growing competition and reduced access in some areas.
