Spotify founder Daniel Ek steps down from CEO role

Spotify's founder, Daniel Ek, is stepping down from his role as CEO after nearly two decades. Ek will remain as the company's executive chair, while two of his lieutenants, Gustav Söderström and Alex Norström, will take over as co-CEOs, effective January 1st. Ek founded the Stockholm-based music streaming company in 2006 and has led it to become one of the industry's dominant players. The transition in leadership aims to streamline the company's operations and provide a fresh perspective as Spotify continues to navigate the evolving digital music landscape. Söderström and Norström, who currently serve as Spotify's chief product and technology officer and chief business officer, respectively, will work together to steer the company forward in their new roles as co-CEOs.
